Sofie Boons is a jeweller working as Senior Lecturer in Design Crafts at the University of the West of England. She completed a four-year Crafts Council Research Fellowship at the Centre for Print Research. Her PhD focussed on lab-grown gemstones and has resulted in the world’s first rubies grown in-situ in metal pieces. She lectured at the Royal College of Art, The University of the Arts London and The University of Applied Sciences Trier/Idar-Oberstein. Sofie previously worked as the Head of Academy for the British Academy of Jewellery. Her work is exhibited internationally and held in the collections of a range of galleries.
