
Kele Mafole
International Relations Lead,

Kele Mafole is the International Relations Lead at De Beers Group, where
she leads policy advocacy and strategic initiatives to safeguard the
integrity and reputation of the diamond sector. Working closely with
industry leaders, government stakeholders and civil society organisations,
she drives collaborative efforts that foster positive change and advance shared global objectives.
With over 15 years of experience in public policy and multilateral diplomacy, Kele began her career at the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs, navigating complex issues of global governance, sustainable development, and human rights within the United Nations system.
Kele is a member of CIBJO’s Jewellery Industry Supply Chain Nomenclature Committee and the World Diamond Council’s Kimberley Process Taskforce.
In 2023, Kele was appointed to Chair the Kimberley Process review of
the definition of ‘conflict diamonds’, leading the global effort to refine,
shape and strengthen ethical sourcing standards, responsible trade and policy reform in the diamond industry.
