Since 2023, David has been working for Gemfields as Corporate Responsibility Manager, with a focus on aligning its coloured gemstone mining projects (MRM & Kagem) with industry leading standards. Prior to Gemfields, he worked for nearly a decade with Fairtrade, including a three year period as commodity lead for Fairtrade Gold; encouraging mid-stream and downstream jewellery brands to switch their sourcing to Fairtrade. Beyond the market, he has extensive experience of working directly with precious material miners to address complex compliance and responsible mining challenges, especially including gold mines in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, where he lived for two years from 2021-23 working for The Impact Facility, prior to joining Gemfields.
