To introduce the GC&DC Awards which is 116 years old and a charity and non-profit making organisation. With an aim “to encourage, stimulate and promote the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and design amongst all those in the UK who work within silversmithing, goldsmithing, jewellery and the allied crafts.
Sharing what and how we do it, give facts about the Awards Competition and its judging process, industry expert scrutiny, the work done nationally to inspire entrants from UK wide colleges and jewellery schools, apprentices, makers, designers, enamellers, engravers and setters etc, the depth and width of the entrants, helping skills flourish, the experiences that are offered to winners, how entering and being a winner can be life-changing, our patrons and sponsors which include The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and Cartier.
Holding the Awards Ceremony in the Goldsmiths’ Hall, London and subsequent Exhibition, plus organising further exhibitions of Winners work at the Birmingham Assay Office and Goldsmiths’ Centre. There is no parallel in the UK to this national competition.
